Helping individuals discover their unbridled potential
through equine-assisted services

Hey there!

You're probably wondering, "Why have I not gotten a newsletter from SoléAna Stables since March?"

We understand that inboxes can get crowded, so we've transitioned to a quarterly newsletter to ensure our updates don't get lost in the shuffle. You'll receive all the latest news and updates from the barn in a more condensed format. Sit back, relax, and enjoy our very first quarterly newsletter!

And, did you guess where horses shop for clothes?

At Old Neighvy! 🤣

That being said, welcome to the Summer edition of Hay There!

Celebrating the end of the Spring Semester!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the end of the Spring Semester with us. We love seeing our Riders & families enjoying time together at the barn.
What a treat it was to see everyone having fun and making strides in the arena, getting creative with a flower dyeing craft for Mother's Day, getting their faces painted by the always amazing katiediddesignz, and sharing great food donated by the Pearland Shipley’s and Bighorn BBQ. We're so grateful for our amazing community!

Update on Dottie!

Our sweet, resilient girl went in for a check-up in May and got a great report from the vet! She got her stitches out and has been healing exceptionally well!  We are constantly impressed by how well she has adjusted to this new change. She's even been able to hang out with a couple of our Veterans and riders! Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes for her.

INTRODUCING... JOHN WAYNE!!!

Some of you may have noticed a new face in our pasture or in our photos over the past few months. We are pleased to officially introduce our newest herd member, John Wayne!

John Wayne is a Mustang who lived wild for close to two years in the Snowstorm Mountains Herd Management Area near Winnemucca, Nevada. He was rounded up on October 1, 2018, and eventually made his way into the family of our wonderful instructor, Jasmin. We are so fortunate that she and her husband have shared their sweet boy with our Riders and Veterans here at SoléAna Stables.

John Wayne came to us in February when he stepped in to help us out in the Top Hands Horse Show. He stayed at the barn for a short time before Top Hands to work with our staff and riders, and we knew he would be a great fit for our program. At the show, he was so calm and steady for our riders, even in a bustling environment that was completely new to him. We all fell in love with him, and he has already become an important part of our Therapeutic Riding Program, as well as our Horses for Heroes Program in the short time he’s been here!

His coat color is Bay and he is approximately 15 hands tall. You might notice the white line of symbols on his neck. This is a permanent freeze brand used by the Bureau of Land Management to identify each Mustang with unique information, including their birth year and registration number. He is the youngest horse in our herd, and just turned 9 years old on April 28th! We hope you can spend some time at the barn with him soon!!

Welcome Greater Angleton Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors!

We had a great time hosting the Greater Angleton Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors for their April meeting! Did you know that our very own Development Director Jasmine Singh is an Ambassador? They got to spend time learning all about us and meeting our herd!

Emily

After a few years of searching for a therapeutic riding organization to volunteer with, Emily found SoléAna Stables. She says, "I always look forward to volunteering at the stables to get a break from school and see the joy in the kids' faces when they are on the horses."

Thank you for bringing us joy, too, Emily!

Claudia

Claudia shared what motivated her to join the SoléAna Stables family. “Having loved horses from childhood, volunteering for the SoléAna Stables programs seemed to be a great way to give back and enjoy the experience as well… My favorite part is nuzzling those soft noses! Thanks to Amy, Karen, Katelyn and all the others for being such patient teachers with a horse newbie like me!”

When we first envisioned SoléAna Stables 11 years ago, our goal was to establish a space where individuals with disabilities and members of the military community could find solace. Last year brought remarkable growth in our veterans program, therapeutic riding initiatives, and herd enhancements. Reflecting on our journey, we invite you to explore the 2024 SoléAna Stables Impact Report. Your support has been invaluable, and we are truly grateful for the achievements we have accomplished together.
